Gov. Ricketts to Lead Governor’s Walk to Promote Wellness
On Tuesday, January 21st, Governor Pete Ricketts will promote wellness by leading the annual Governor’s Walk at the State Capitol. Before the walk, he will hold a brief news conference at 10:30 a.m. in the north vestibule of the State Capitol on the second floor.
The purpose of the Governor’s Walk is to highlight the importance of regular exercise and a healthy diet. The event will also encourage participants to use the LiveWell Challenge as motivation to achieve a healthier life. Gov. Ricketts will give pointers as to how he and his family are able to stay active and will encourage Nebraskans to maintain healthy lifestyles.
Leaders from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will speak about Nebraska’s current health rankings and the benefits of regular exercise and a healthy diet. Additionally, Nebraska Sports Council Executive Director Dave Mlnarik will give an update on the LiveWell Challenge, now in its 4th year.
